FAIRVIEW ROAD BIOREACTOR AND STABILIZATION PROJECT
9/18/2024 Update
Bioreactor Project Update: The Wyoming County Soil & Water Conservation District has informed CLEAN at Silver Lake that the Bioreactor Project will not be completed this year as originally projected. As with any project of this type, there are many hurdles to jump and working with all parties involved to make sure this project is successful is a key to moving forward. Look for more updates in the spring!
7/18/24 Update on the Silver Lake Bioreactor Project
Emelyn Bell from the Wyoming County Soil & Water Conservation District has provided some additional information regarding this project. The scope of the project will include the installation of the bioreactor as well as complete stabilization of the eroding tributary to Silver Lake. The stabilization of the tributary will include the installation of three micro-pools also referred to as cascading pools. These pools act as mini storm water retention ponds that naturally improve water quality by allowing the sediment to settle and the ground water to recharge while also reducing the velocity and quantity of surface water reaching Silver Lake. Ideally, the bioreactor will target the reduction of nitrogen and the micro-pools will target the reduction of phosphorus by allowing all the suspended solids (which phosphorus binds to) to settle to the bottom of the pools. The average lifespan of the bioreactor is 10 years and grant funding for maintenance/replacement is being pursued. See below for proposal - Option 2. CHECK BACK FOR UPDATES!
